Halloween 2022

Thanks to Melinda Godin and the BHCA for sponsoring the pumpkin carving (and pre-Trick or Treat pizza in the park, with a generous discount by Andy's Local Market) this year, both were overrun with tiny Bret Harters. Photos by Tim O'Dwyer

Arbor Day Tree Planting

On October 20, 2022 we came together in the park to help greet our new park tree (and a few others!). In conjunction with the 45th annual Arbor Day tree planting ceremony, the San Rafael Library and Recreation Department replaced our sorely missed old oak tree, and adding a few others on the hillside. Halloween Parade 2021

Thanks to the teeming Halloween Horde that turned out for the 2021 parade, which was bigger (and louder) than ever this year. Thanks once again to Garrett Burdick for his 2021 Bret Harte Halloween Parade Album (right-click on photos to save them). Other photos by Molly Blauvelt and Jeff Swenerton.

Halloween Parade 2020

On Halloween, neighbors held an informal parade through the neighborhood. Thanks to Garrett Burdick, Deepti Manepalli, and Molly Blauvelt for photos. To see more of Garrett Burdick's photos, visit his photo gallery: 2020 Bret Harte Halloween Parade (right-click on photos to save them).

Bret Harte Children's March

On Saturday, June 6 2020, Bret Harte held a peaceful family demonstration. We met at the corner of Bret and Billou, and walked around the neighborhood spreading peace, love and support for Black Lives Matter.

Bret hARTe Community Art Stroll

On Saturday, May 30, 2020, we checked out the creative talents of Bret Harte artists while strolling the neighborhood. Artists displayed their art in front of their home or driveway (and appropriate physical distancing was observed!).

Easter 2019
The turnout was eggceptional!

Thank you to everyone who came out on Saturday for Easter in the Park, and stayed for coffee (courtesy of Starbucks) and catching up with neighbors and friends. Thanks to Betsy Swenerton for organizing, and amazing volunteers Aliya Clark, Jenny Hynes, Kyan Baker, Max Hoffman (as Blossom the Bunny), Miles Clark, and Thomas Vogl.

Halloween 2018
Thanks to the Bret Harte Community for another great Halloween in the Park!

Getting ready for Halloween is almost as fun as the main event, and every year the Bret Harte Community Association hosts two Halloween-related events: Neighborhood Pumpkin Carving on the Sunday before Halloween, and Pre-Trick or Treat Pizza as the sun goes down on the big day. We had a huge turnout for pumpkin carving this year on Sunday, October 28th, 2018, with some amazing pumpkins heading home in time for Halloween. Pizza in the Park was also a great success. Thanks to Ann Schroeder and Nigel Faulkner for the photos.
